Finding Purebred Bulldog Puppies For Sale

By Linda Mitchell

With their characteristic looks and friendly nature, Bulldogs are probably one of the most loving breeds. Medium sized and heavy, slow and phlegmatic, friendly and lovable, these dogs are also incredibly stubborn sometimes, and quite moody. There are not too many high quality purebred Bulldog puppies for sale, and it is good to know a little more about the breed before choosing your puppy.

English Bulldogs are highly appreciated for their nice character and friendly nature. But they need to have certain physical characteristics as well. For example, their rose ears have to be settled on a broad, flat head, with deep set, broad nose and broad set eyes. Undershot lower jaw should be turned up. Your dog's back must not be flat, it has to be roached, and his legs have to be properly formed.

Bulldogs have several health issues. Most purebreds have similar problems with genetic diseases, of course, but some are characteristic for this particular breed. For example, they have highly sensitive skin prone to allergies. They have strangely formed respiratory system, and might have problems breathing. Short expected life and heart problems must also be mentioned, as well as hip problems.

Maybe these issues can discourage you, but you should remember that most purebreds share similar problems. Bulldogs are so adorable that you probably won't mind their snoring, drooling or shedding. If you love your dog, all these tiny flaws should not change that. Dogs are wonderful creatures, and bulldogs are especially lovable, interesting and friendly.

Nevertheless, if you are prepared to deal with all this, you will have one adorable, low maintenance dog that does not need too much exercise, which will bark rarely, look beautifully and behave politely. Bulldogs are really friendly and really rarely aggressive, except when it comes to their food. They really don't like to share their food or to be disturbed when eating, and you should always keep that in mind.

Your bulldog will be perfectly happy if you take him to a short daily walk only. He will be happy if you don't take him to walk, too, but, you should provide at least some form of exercise for your pet, for health reasons. Remember that he is really sensitive creature, and prefers to be in a warm and cozy environment. He could easily get cold, or get over-heated. Take a good care of your pet.

Of course, he will be pretty stubborn. When he decides to do, or not to do something, the easiest thing you can do is to give up. He probably will not. When he is in the mood for learning, he is pretty good in it. When he learns something, you can be sure he will know it for good. He is clever enough to learn new stuff, but mostly simply don't feel like doing it.

All puppies are adorable. Even so, be really careful when choosing your dog. It will be your friend for life, and that's why you should choose appropriate breed. Bulldogs are not designed for really active people, they prefer spending time at home, snoring in your armchair. When this little puppy grows up, you will face stubbornness, drooling, flatulence and snoring, but also the best pet you can imagine.
