What To Know About The Concealed Carry Holster

By Jason Gibson

Most law enforcers need a place to keep an extra gun or two either for official duties or for the times when they are off duty but may need to carry weapons. Those qualified to have this kind of item are often licensed individuals working for security concerns. They might be government employed like policemen or are members of private security firms.

Often they need the license to carry relevant to the use of such a case for handguns and similar weapons. The Concealed Carry Holster is something of a specialist item, since not all those who own handguns may want to use it. In fact, it is like the Sam Browne belt identified with the military and police in an earlier generation.

Weapons that will be concealed could be illegal, but they might also be used in executing police or security duties for certain persons. Many FBI, police and security personnel actually prefer using one when not wearing uniforms. These of course will require holsters worn outside, something connected to keeping peace in communities.

The concealed holster thus is something that is more practical and more useful for operational personnel. Also, it provides a sense of the divide between the civilian world in which they might move in and the one that belongs to law enforcement. They need not spook anyone else in the line of duty and will only use their concealed handguns when needed.

There are several types for this kind of security accessory. There is the shoulder rig, which is a more complicated set up that lets you carry your weapon by your side torso, under one arm. This type though could help you carry a heavier and longer handgun, which for lawmen, is something that could mean a better means of doing their jobs.

Another type is the typical belt rig, and in fact any kind of belt system can be easily concealed under coats and jackets. However, the lower part of the accessory could stick out for those clothes that are shorter or have higher skirts. For the smaller weapons though, like snub nosed 38s, it could be ideal, although this may not be the primary weapon for use in an expected fight.

There is also the lower leg holster, which is typically lighter, and usually handles smaller handguns. The system is often used for what are called weekend specials, when security personnel are off duty and do not expect to use any weapon. The gun used is called the safety gun, which could be used for unexpected emergencies.

Rigs could be fancy or plain, and most either prefer the shiny black leather apparatus or the more attractive light brown leather. The fancier items could be tooled with anything from buttons to grommets and mother of pearl. Also, when you buy one from a commercial or ready made display, it might need to be adjusted for you.

These things will however have a strap that is adjustable, a thing working like belts. But when you need more features which could entail more complex settings, there will also be craftsmen who are able to customize one for you. This could be a thing that is useful for guns with very long barrels, or for some special features you prefer using for yourself.
