Decorating With A Faux Fur Throw

By Ruth Cole

Having a space that is both practical and luxurious is not impossible. The decorating options are almost limitless and some of these can be beneficial in other ways. Things like a faux fur throw are one of those items than can help a person use less energy and one made from quality materials can last a long time.

These not only look good but are dense enough to keep warm during the cold months. Now these also come in a wide variety and colors that will match just about any decor. One good way to complete a look is too add accent pillows or hang picture frames of a similar color.

Fur alternatives of today have changed for the better while remaining environmentally friendly. The new ones have a silky look and are buttery soft to the touch. Even better, maintenance is minimal and many types just need to be machine washed every so often. However, using a professional cleaner will guarantee a longer life.

The selection of colors is also great for anyone who wants something different from the usual neutral tones. Faux furs also come in blends, patterns and fun colors like green, orange and red. Sometimes these vibrant colors or textures may be used to bring life to spaces with mostly earth tones.

Another advantage to using extra plush throws and blankets is that they require no electricity to be functional. This means no sudden bursts of heat or shutting off unexpectedly. These work with natural body heat so that it will remain warm yet comfortable.

An area rug or window treatment in a matching color is a nice companion to a throw. However, one made from faux fur should be in a low traffic area and away from pets. Basic care for these is also easy and can give life to plain spaces.

Candles not only look great in a room but can save money and energy. On the market are all types, including those without a flame and scents made to last for several uses. These can also help to warm up a space, instead of using a heater, which can get expensive.

Other ways to bring glamour to a space are to keep spaces free of clutter. When a surface has a lot of miscellaneous items laying around, it can take away from decorative pieces. However, when storage pieces look like artwork, it can add a personalized touch to any organization plan.

One way is to convert shoeboxes by painting or wrapping in decorative paper in a color that complements a color scheme. Cabinet door handles or pieces of wire may be used to create handles if the box is moved around often. If stacking alongside a vertical wall space, it can help expand surface space.

Adding nice touches to a room does not have to be all show. Some items can serve a purpose that can save the frugal shopper. Sometimes, it can be fun to transform spaces to see how pieces will look and the functionality in everyday life.
