Common items that people mostly look for are pots and glass items. Antique pottery and glassware are items that should be provided with adequate care for them to continue looking beautiful and shiny.

Antiques can easily be damaged since they are fragile. In addition, these items are hard to find. Thus they are expensive. It is crucial for one to know the proper ways of caring for these treasures. Below are some of the techniques that can be adopted to ensure that these items properly care for thus last long in top notch condition.

The proper handling if these items should be adopted. A lot of antiques get damaged due to excessive handling by the owner. At first, the damage is usually small and not noticeable. However, as time goes by, the damage becomes bigger and noticeable. It is paramount for individuals to be careful during the handling of antiques. When one is moving the item from one place to another, he or she should ensure there will be no items along the way that may cause him or her to trip and fall. The assets should be held with both hands but not too tightly to cause damage.

When storing these items, they should be kept properly to prevent any damage. The surface where the antiques will be kept should be flat to ensure that the item will be safe. Irregular surfaces are not suitable for the item will slip, fall and break. Fragile Antiques should be placed away from the edge of the surface. It is appropriate to keep them in a closed glass cabinet for the exhibition. This will protect the treasures from dust and other agents that may cause breakage.

It is important for a person to consider regular inspection and cleaning of the antiques. As time goes by, the items may become dirty and eventually discolor due to the accumulation of dirt. As such, it is imperative for an individual to consider checking the item to spot any dirt that may have been trapped in or out if the asset.

When cleaning these treasures, the assets may damage by having a small crack or even break completely. As such, it is advisable for one to use materials that are soft when cleaning these items. Using hard materials to clean can cause extensive damage to the antiques. Materials that can be used for the work of cleaning are cotton or papers that are soft.

The items should not be immersed in water in case they become dirty. If one submerges the pot in water, the material of the pot will soak and absorb the water that is dirty thus changing the appearance and the value of the item. For this reason, it is appropriate for one to find good methods of cleaning the antiques while retaining their value and look.

In some cases, the asset may fall and break. It is appropriate for one to collect all the pieces and take them to a professional restorer. This is because they are equipped with enough skills that will enable them to put the pieces back together. Putting the pieces together alone may ruin the edges.
