Make An Extra Profit With 5x Big T Shirts

By Janet Cook

These days there is diversity in body types just like anything else. As the population increases, people of various sizes are all over the TV screen. No longer a novelty or unusual attraction, reality and scripted shows have shown the world that people of any size or ability are not much different from anyone else. This also means that they like to be comfortable but stylish in their attire. Those who are larger tend to have difficulty finding 5x big t shirts that look and feel good.

While the population of some communities tends to be on the heavier side, finding clothes that fit should not be a problem. Tee shirts are one of the most versatile types of clothing around. Even those made from a heavy cotton material are inexpensive and they can be used for layering or to be worn alone. Stretch or yoga pants look great with an oversized t shirt and a few accessories for anyone who wants to look fashionable while running errands.

These are also easy to decorate or style according to taste. Although most retailers carry extra large shirts with wonderful graphic art, people can make their own statement by adding things like watercolors, sequins, or a mix of decorative items. One easy style is the worn look, where holes and tears are placed strategically.

This flexibility in dressing the larger body is a stark contrast to a century ago when larger bodies had to rely on a tailor to make most of their clothes. Back then, the largest size tee the average person could find was a 3X. While stores that carried apparel for men had a slightly greater selection, women who wore anything larger than a size 16 had fewer options and sometimes had to shop at a clothing store for men if they wanted something casual.

Even though larger sizes became the norm as decades passed, these were not always easy to find in smaller towns. There may have been an independent store or small chain that catered to plus or extended sizes but sometimes the inventory may have been limited. Few of these places carried a lot in the way of casual clothing and while it was uncommon for a child to be larger than normal, they had even fewer choices.

For a lot of early retailers, selling apparel for larger sizes was not always easy. This was mostly due to body proportions and sometimes height. While the majority of items were made for people of average height, individuals who were very short or tall may have had additional challenges.

Body dimensions in larger women are normally in the bustline, hips, or waistline. While some details can be camouflaged with a wide belt or by layering, it is common for this type of body shape to wear up to three sizes comfortably. Some women who are large in a particular area may prefer to wear t shirts that are least one size larger than what they would normally buy.

The exception is apparel shops for men that have big and tall sizes. These are ideal for athletes as well as those who have a little girth. One thing that has changed in the past couple of decades is that a lot of casual clothing styles are unisex. So if a person even wears an 8X, there is not as much of a stigma.
