Now You Too Can Play Clarinet

By Gary Wilson

With all the different styles of music that are out there, it makes it easy to find something that you will really be motivated to play. If you are really interested and engaged in what you are working on, it will be so much easier for you to stick with it and not give up halfway through. Whether you are more into classical music, world music, or jazz, there is nothing that the clarinet cannot do since it is such a flexible woodwind option.

It might be discouraging when you honk and squeak your way through your first notes. It might also be frustrating when you cannot seem to remember your fingerings or miss an accidental or sharp or flat here and there. If this is how you are feeling, it is always important to remember that nobody gets better at this kind of thing with practice, and it takes plenty of patience and time in order to get to the level of the professionals.

It cannot be stressed enough the importance of keeping an instrument like this clean. Failing to do so might result in bad smells or even a fungal infection, which nobody wants. It is scary how easily something like that can be breathed into the lungs, so you will definitely want to make sure to take care of proper maintenance.

Buying an instrument online can often be risky because you can never really be sure of what you are getting until it actually arrives. That is why whenever you have the chance, it is always going to be best to actually go into the music store and play on it for yourself. That way, you will be able to know for sure if you like everything about the instrument.

Inspiration can come in many forms. For some people, it involves listening to those legendary players who have shaped the musical ages with their playing styles. If you just pop in a CD with someone like Benny Goodman, you will quickly and easily hear the potential in this particular woodwind.

With the right instructor, the learning process can be a lot more fun and go more quickly. There are some independent people who like to learn it all on their own. Even the best of independent learners, though are better off when they can have someone more experienced than them watching over their shoulder.

Playing music with others is a joy that everyone should get to experience. It is the opportunity to be a part of something larger than yourself and to create something beautiful with other people. There are plenty of community groups to join if this is something you want to try out.

Finding the right kind of therapy is difficult for people who have very busy and stressful lives. Sometimes, just sitting down to work on a piece of music can be just the thing that the mind needs. If you have never experienced the therapeutic benefits of playing music, now might be the right time to try.
